Wi-Fi

eduroam

Students, Fellows and Staff should default to using eduroam. It can be used across the University, as well as at many other institutions. You can find instructions for setting up eduroam on the UIS Website.

Internet of Things

There are two Internet of Things solutions, depending on whether you are resident in the majority of Norfolk Campus or in Mount Pleasant Halls/White Cottage. MPH and White Cottage residents should follow instructions for the University of Cambridge IoT system.

Residents in other buildings should identify the MAC address of their device and create a Manual Network Registration ticket in the College Ticketing System.

Visitors

Visitors to St Edmund’s should contact the Porter’s Lodge who can provide you with a voucher for accessing the WiFi for the duration of your visit.

Wired Connections

Norfolk Campus

If you are based in the Norfolk Campus buildings listed below, you can connect to the internet via ethernet cable. While less flexible, ethernet is less susceptible to interference than WiFi. Unfortunately we are not able to provide cables and adapters for this, however if you need advice please contact us.

  • Bene’t House,
  • Brian Heap,
  • Flats,
  • Geoffrey Cook,
  • Norfolk Building,
  • Richard Laws,
  • White Cottage.

Mount Pleasant Halls

The University Network used in MPH does not currently support wired connections; only UniofCam and eduroam wireless. Demand for a wired service is something we are monitoring and will feed back to the University Information Services when they review their plans to expand their offerings. If you need help connecting a desktop to the wireless services please let us know.
