Photo

All new students will be invited to attend the Matriculation Photo, which takes place during Freshers’ Week in Michaelmas Term.

For the photograph, students are required to wear:

  • Formal attire (black tie optional)
  • An academic robe

As you will be standing for the photograph, we recommend wearing flat or low-heeled shoes for comfort. Your footwear will not be visible in the final photograph.

Please do not bring bags, mobile phones or other personal belongings onto the staging area. A designated area will be available nearby where these items can be left during the photograph.

Students starting their course in Lent or Easter Term will be invited to attend the Michaelmas Matriculation Photo in the following academic year or, depending on cohort size, a smaller College-organised event.

Ceremony

All new students will be invited to attend the Matriculation Ceremony or a Matriculation Celebration.

Students are required to wear:

  • Formal attire (black tie optional)
  • An academic robe

Further information, including timings and event guidance, will be provided in the Freshers’ Events Programme and during your College induction.

Students starting their course in Lent or Easter Term, and part-time students, will be invited to attend the Michaelmas Matriculation Ceremony in the following academic year or, depending on their cohort, a smaller College-organised event during their starting term.

Dinners

A number of Formal Halls are held to welcome newly matriculating students. Details of these dinners, including booking information, will be included in the Freshers’ Events Programme.

As places are limited, students may book onto one Matriculation Formal Hall only.
