What is the EAMC?
The Examination Access and Mitigation Committee (EAMC) is a committee of the General Board that meets every month to review applications relating to exams and assessments, usually due to health issues or other serious personal circumstances.

The Tutorial Office should be made aware of any EAMC applications as soon as possible to ensure the correct guidance and time-frames are given to students.
Intermission (break in studies/disregard terms) – Intermission Guidance 2025-26

Students are required to provide the date in which they stopped engaging with their studies and the term they intend to return to studies so that their CamSIS record can be updated. Where a student would like to return in Lent or Easter Term, please make sure you have discussed this with your DoS.

Students should still submit their work on time and use the self-certify 7-day extension on CamSIS in the first instance, or contact their department for an extension.
Examination Allowance (when illness or grave cause has impacted one or all of your exams) – EAMC Exam Allowances 2025-26

Student Initiation Form – Students must complete and send this form to the Tutorial Office (tutorial@st-edmunds.cam.ac.uk) within 7 days of the exam affected or 7 days of their last exam.
We strongly advice that students do not sit exams and ‘see how they do’, if they do not feel well enough. This could affect an exam allowance application that you make in the future.
Guidance on Deadlines –
- A full list of EAMC Deadlines for the 2026-2027 Academic Year can be found here –
- Students must have submitted their application in full to the Tutorial Office by the Friday before the EAMC deadline. Applications that are sent to the Tutorial Office after the Friday will not be submitted to the EAMC.
Other Guidance –
- If you would like to submit evidence that includes text written in a different language, this must be translated using a certified third-party translation service, anything else will not be accepted by the EAMC. The College is unable to reimburse the cost of any translations.
