Traditional apple crumble
- Heat oven to 180˚C.
- Peel and chop apples and sprinkle a few blackberries in the base of an ovenproof dish/ pan to make a layer.
- Add a tablespoon of water to the pan and sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of sugar over the fruit.
- Make crumble by adding a pinch of salt to 300g flour (about 10 tablespoons) and stir.
- Now chop in 200g of butter or margarine until it is all in small ‘crumbs’.
- Add 175g (about 6 tablespoons) of brown sugar to the crumble mix and stir in
- Now spread over the top of the apple and blackberry mixture and press down with your knuckles, it tastes best when you can see the chef’s fingerprints.
- Bake in oven for around 40 minutes until crumble top starts to go golden brown
- Eat with yoghurt, cream or ice-cream!
